In November 2017 LLEAD member Elva Reyes attended a Raise The Age in Michigan meeting. Michigan was 1 of 5 states that automatically allowed 17 year-olds to be tried and sentenced as adults. Raise The Age in Michigan supports legislation which would raise the age of legal adulthood in the court system and treat 17year-olds as minors and give teens access to a diversion program or counseling.
