About this chapter

Established October 20, 2022, LLEAD’s fifth chapter focuses on legal, prison, and judicial policy reform for the Latino community across Detroit and Southeast Michigan, including reevaluating cash bail policies, advocating for diverse jury representation, ending life sentences for crimes committed by juveniles, and improving affordable phone access for incarcerated loved ones and their families.

Co-chair Elena Herrada brings decades of Detroit civil rights leadership, including board service on the Detroit Human Rights Commission and the ACLU of Michigan.
